Van-Go Clearance
Nan’s top tips

Welcome to Nan's Vans with Lisa & Milo

Hi, As you've probably read, I've been dealing with waste for nearly 20 years, so I thought I'd start a blog to share some of that knowledge I've gained. Got a question you'd like me to cover? Ping it over to service@van-goclearance.co.uk and I'll make sure it's covered.

Meet Milo, the team mascot...

So a bit about me first...

I'm a 57 year old Nan to 6 gorgeous grandchildren, almost 3 to 16 (yep, started pretty young). I try my best to be there as much as I can for them, but I'm also a workaholic, I'm sure many of you can relate to the work / life balance and still try and find time for hair, nails and the occasional massage to de-stress.

I started in waste 20 years ago, following an interview at an agency. I was told "you'll never hack it but go if you want", skip forward 6 months and I happily got promoted to manager (big grin). I never looked back, I became obsessed with waste, the waste journey, the legal side, customer service and building relationships with customers and suppliers. My old boss said a customer's perception is your reality, I've worked by that ever since. I worked my way up through hard graft and ended up being known as the office nerd. Want to know anything about waste, ask Matthews (me), I'm really proud of that. Jump forward a few years and I thought rather than clearing up after people, let's just get it right the first time. Isn't that what people are paying for? So I left and opened Van-Go Clearance Ltd.

Now about Van-Go (that soon got shortened), my idea was why complicate things? Shouldn't it just be finding a company you get a good feeling about, that you'll be able to trust with your money, tell them what waste you have and them collecting it and disposing of it for you legally and compliantly for a fair price?

Yes is the answer.

The website was built with speed and ease in mind, as few clicks as possible on your mobile, but filled with oodles of info if that's your thing - it's mine if you hadn't already guessed.

Are we cheaper than the others? I'm afraid not, we are competitive though and I'd like to say value for money. You get what you pay for really is true in the waste industry. Yes you can pay someone £50 to pick up your settee, mattress and old fridge, but where's it being taken? We've all seen the fly-tipping crisis on the news. Want to contribute to it, that's why you're being told £50. Want to see it recycled, re-used and legally handled, then receive your duty of care documents (waste transfer note) it's going to cost you a bit more I'm afraid. Remember your mum saying if it sounds too good to be true?

If it is out of your budget especially this time of year, you can pay with Klarna over 3 months. At least you'll have the peace of mind knowing you did the right thing or in this case, Van-Go will.

Next week on Nan's Vans.... I'll be talking about what can and can't go in a skip and letting you know why. I'm sure when you've called round, people have said no this, no that, vapes, plasterboard, food etc. I'll let you know why and what happens at the waste transfer station.

Don't forget, if you have anything you'd like me to cover, just drop me an email to service@van-goclearance.co.uk and I'll make sure I respond.

Thanks for reading, and speak to you next week!

Nan x
